Midrange cavity experiments

This is a series of relatively quick (by ceramics standards) slipcast models exploring the feasibility of creating a separate cavity within the main cast for use as a midrange unit.  A former is created and suspended in the middle, this former is then fired away when in the kiln.  Marcel Wanders created some similar forms using a slightly different technique.

After the bisque and final firing some conclusions may be made:

The former must be rigid enough to hold it’s form

It must absorb as much liquid as possible to get a reasonable wall thickness

This technique can  create the complexity  that I am after for the midrange cavity
