Test Cabinet Casting

Here are the series of images showing the machining and casting of the initial loudspeaker mold. The aim here was not to create the final shape/design, but rather test for casting properties. I sectioned the virtual Solidworks model to obtain a series of cutting outlines and then the mold former was handmade using stacked and laminated MDF panels. The rough mold was then smoothed using a combination of power and hand tools and then sanded and varnished. A plaster cast was made from the mold former and then a porcelain cabinet was created by using the slipcasting process.
