VIP Icebreaking

CLIENT:                     The Complete Package Ltd., Rugby Tourism & Hospitality Ltd.

PROJECT DATE:       2011

I was asked to provide a presentation to a mix of interests that were involved in delivering the 2010 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand, which is the 4th largest sporting event in the world.  Against many competing companies, we were selected to provide a suite of touchscreen installations for use within the VIP hospitality tent that was in use for all games played at Eden Park, Auckland including the opening game and the final.

The suite included some very popular applications that leveraged the existing media content that the International Rugby Board already owned to work as ‘conversation icebreakers’ for the many international and local attendees.  The most successful of which was a simple video-wall application called Magic Moments.  Users could search back through the great tries and plays of past tournaments and relive the glory, or humble an opposing supporter.  The combination of alcohol and sportsmanship led many people to enjoy this application.

I designed the initial applications, presented to the select panel and project managed the final graphics, custom hardware build, coding implementation and hardware installation on time and budget.
